PUBLIC CLOSURE – Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre – March 16 – April 5, 2020

The health and well-being of Bruce County residents is always our number one priority. Although Health Canada has classified the COVID-19 virus as low risk to Canadians, we’re taking extra precautions to protect all clients, staff and the public. Using an overabundance of precaution in the wake of COVID -19, while services will continue, ALL County Office Buildings are closed to the public beginning Monday March 16, until Sunday April 5, 2020.

This includes the following locations:

County Administration Centre, 30 Park Street, Walkerton

Peninsula Hub, 268 Berford Street, Wiarton

Lakeshore Hub, 1243 MacKenzie Road, Port Elgin

All Library Branch locations

Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, 33 Victoria Street, Southampton

Due to these closures, all County Council and Committee meetings scheduled during this time are CANCELLED.

Relying on advice from experts in risk management and loss prevention, we’re committed to doing our part to help slow the spread of this new virus. When possible, we encourage social distancing, as recommended by the Public Health Agency of Canada, and suggest that contacting us via phone, email or online is preferred during this time. Please refer to www.brucecounty.on.ca for a complete list of contact numbers and email.

Staff continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will provide updates as necessary. In addition, Bruce County’s emergency management practices are in place.

The public is encouraged to follow the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit and stay up to date at www.publichealthgreybruce.on.ca

The County also recommends that the public follow the proper hygiene protocols outlined by the Provincial Medical Officer of Health: https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus.

Experience the long and proud history of Bruce County beginning in the newly updated Anishnaabwe Endaat gallery, through pioneer times to present day.  Journey through thousands of years of natural and human history; come face-to-face with a baby mammoth, meet the shopkeeper while exploring Bevan's General Store, or play in our technology lab.  Explore the rich marine history of Bruce County's lighthouses, shipwrecks and fishing industry; board the HMS General Hunter, an 1812 battleship replica, where an exciting virtual experience awaits as you shoot the cannon to defeat the enemy.  Step into the trenches of WWI and follow the life of a Bruce County soldier through the war.  Discover all this and more!
